Production / Workshop Manager

Bonfire Recruitment is working on a exclusive basis with a leading automotive manufacturing company based in the South East, to recruit a Production Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role will involve managing a highly skilled production team through supervisors, team size approx 120 heads. Ensuring HSEQ standards are adhered too, drive performance through people development and highlighting area improvements.

The Production Manager is responsible for leading the entire operations, you must have experience of working within a precision engineering enviroment - CNC.

Job Description

  • Promote a safety culture and ensure all health and safety requirements are met – contribute to the improvement of all environmental, health and safety standards. Compliant with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maximise departmental performance – efficiency, waste, labour utilisation, service, quality, energy, environmental, hygiene.
  • Excellent customer service – responsible for achieving the production plan. Host customer visits.
  • Create and maintain a continuous improvement culture – proactively seek new and improved methods of working to increase efficiency in the overall production process.
  • Ownership of product quality, taking full responsibility for the quality of product through management and compliance with quality systems.
  • Propose and present capital projects
  • Employee development and people management including attendance improvement, performance improvement, discipline/grievance/appeals. Determine skills and compliance training needs to fulfil current and future business needs. Lead, coach and motivate a highly-skilled team to achieve individual and team development.
  • Employee engagement – facilitate the development of an open culture of proactivity, pride and accountability. Continuously inform and involve the team and ensure alignment with current and future business plans and objectives.


Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate with have a positive can do attitude. You will be proactive in your work ethic and have a real passion for continuous improvement. You will be self-motivated and disciplined. You are able to multi-task and work at a fast pace, often with tight deadlines and therefore able to make quick decisions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and have experience within a CNC Workshop / Precision Engineering environment, desirably some of which will be in automtoive or aerospace. Commitment and the desire to achieve excellence are essential criteria to support the Company’s drive to succeed in a challenging environment. You are able to build positive relationships with internal and external customers.

  • 5 years’ experience in a manager position
  • Precision Engineering Experience a must
  • Proven leadership to achieve and exceed targets
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand data and convert into actions
  • Resilient and evidence of building rapport and relationships
  • Proven track record of continuous improvements and problem solving skills
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Recent experience of good employee relations
  • An effective communicator
  • Ability to motivate and inspire the team to provide a solid platform to achieve operational standards
  • A good coach and mentor of people
