Group Financial Controller

Bonfire Recruitment are working cloesly with a manufacturing business based in the central belt (Scotland) to recruit a Group Financial Controller. The role will be the lead individual within the finance team and a key member of the Senior Management team in the UK business reporting to the CEO.

This unique opportunity would offer the right person experience which is rare in todays current market, with a clear path for the right individual into a director position.

The role requires :

  • Taking full responsibility for the month end close including preparation of journals, balance sheet reconciliations, management accounts pack and related commentary for UK entity;
  • Reviewing the month end reporting submissions from subsidiaries and raising any concerns/queries;
  • Preparing regulatory reporting such as corporation tax returns, Group VAT returns etc;
  • Review and submission of Intrastat and EC Sales listings on a monthly basis and reconciling these to VAT returns;
  • Reviewing/preparing payroll for the UK
  • Liasing with external lawyers on contractual and HR matters
  • Being the primary contact for the annual audit and tax compliance processes including preparation of all information for tax comps and audit files;
  • Preparing the statutory accounts for all the UK registered companies of the Group and Group consolidated accounts;
  • Revieweing consolidated weekly cash flow forecast for the Group trading business and daily cash management responsibilities for the UK e.g. reviewing and signing off payments, transfer of funds;
  • Using the Group’s ERP system to analyse financial performance;
  • Preparing the annual budget for the Group trading business including liaising with department heads;
  • Providing information to other departments and other members of the senior management team to assist with making financial decisions;
  • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers;
  • Providing financial support to new initiatives/projects;
  • Working with the CEO to evaluate and enhance existing corporate governance procedures, internal controls and management reporting framework;
  • Responsibility for currency analysis for review by the CEO before placing trades;
  • Being the main point of contact for quarterly bank audits and submission of information;
  • Responsibility for UK sales ledger and purchase ledger functions;
  • Responsibility for preparation of group reporting pack including monthly consolidation and finance pack; and,
  • Arranging the insurance for the Group, including managing the on-going relationship with the broker;
  • Other ad-hoc work as it arises from management.

 

The preferred candidate will already be a finance leader who has experience of delivering the above or someone that can demonstrate they are ready for the step up and is expected to be an engaging, people focussed individual who is results driven with high levels of commercial awareness and have a successful track record of significant manufacturing growth.

You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA) with significant manufacturing experience and able to demonstrate examples of business improvement, you certainly would not consider yourself to be a back-room accountant but a visible and active participant in the day to day operations and improvement of the business..
