Bonfire Recruitment is currently working on a retained exclusive basis with Park Cakes Bakery to recruit a Commercial Accounts Executive.

 

Company Background

Park Cakes is a c£160million business which supplies cake and desserts in Own Brand to the Major Multiples. There are two sites in the North West at Bolton and Oldham. The Oldham site is a craft bakery supplying cake products and mainstream desserts mostly to Marks & Spencers. The Bolton site manufactures more commodity based products making for example slab cakes, and top tier unit cake for a variety of retailers including Sainsbury’s, Tesco’s, Coop and Morrisons, and also features some brand products.

The Bolton site has almost doubled in turnover in the last 5yrs following a distinct strategy to develop growth with the Major Multiples. This has been highly successful.

The success of Park Cakes has further been recognised both by its peers and within its sector by being awarded a variety of awards including the Bakery Food Manufacturer of the year.

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate at the start of their career with two plus years  experience in a Commercial/Category Management/Marketing or Sales environment to join our business and gain a thorough understanding of National Accounts and dealing with the Major Food Retailers.

 

The Role (based in Bolton) :

All the major retail accounts, excluding M&S are managed by a Commercial Director and two Account executives.   The Account Executive position reports directly to the Commercial Director and is responsible on a day to day basis for a number of our retailer partners.

Working within Park Cakes with its strong growth agenda and energy will allow the incumbent of the role to experience a broad involvement than would be experienced in a National Accounts role in a more traditional blue chip environment. Decision making is fast paced and individuals are expected to take responsibility for broad accountabilities and will be fully integrated with cross functional working with Production, NPD and Technical across the sites.

Above all we are looking for an individual who is a ‘go getter’ with the confidence to have an instant rapport with people, build relationships and work in a fast paced environment and confident in using their initiative.

 

Responsibilities :

  • Support the Commercial Director in overseeing and driving accounts in all areas
  • Preparation and presentation of market data and sales information (Kantar based)
  • Account management and liaison with customers to build strong working relationships
  • Analysis of profit and performance trends and make recommendations to drive growth.
  • Initiate and drive projects to create sales opportunities, including NPD and critical path management.
  • Full account housekeeping, regular forecasting and KPI reporting
  • Key cross functional interface internally and externally including NPD
  • Staying up to date with new and emerging themes/ products within your area of responsibility.

 

Candidate Profile :

  • Social skills and personable persona with presence to fit with major retailer commercial environment is paramount.
  • Degree or equivalent.
  • Ambitious and highly focused in terms of their career
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen
  • Resilience and evidence of building rapport and relationships.   

Essential

  • Three to Five years plus years’ experience in a Commercial/Category Management/Marketing or Sales environment with a strong customer interface and focus

Desirable

  • Category insight experience, development of tailored category data for buyers.
  • Multiple high street retailer experience.
  • Developing customer propositions within established supplier partnership relationships.
